MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05 Title: Chunky A'la King Sauce Categories: Sauces, Mcdougall, Vegetarian Yield: 6 servings -formatted by S.Grabowski 2 md Onions, chopped 1/2 lb Mushrooms, sliced 8 oz Can water chestnuts 1/2 c Frozen peas 6 c Milk (soy, rice,etc.) 1 cn Artichoke hearts 1/8 ts White pepper 2 tb Worcestershire sauce 2 md Green peppers 2 md Celery stalks, sliced 11/16 oz Shitake mushrooms 1 c Whole wheat flour 4 oz Pimento, sliced 2 oz Olives, sliced 3 tb Soy sauce 3 tb Corn starch or arrowroot Soak dried shitake mushrooms in hot water to cover for 15 minutes. Drain, press out, trim off stems and thinly slice. In a large pan, cook onions, green pepper, mushrooms, celery, water chestnuts and peas in 1 1/2 cup water for 10 minutes. Stir in flour and continue to cook stirring constantly until mixture boils Stir in pimentos, artichokes, soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Mix the corn starch or arrowroot in a small amount of cold water.Gradually add to pan. Cook and stir until mixture bubbles and thickens.
